Capslock turns Caps Lock into a second keyboard layer on macOS. Three ideas
explain everything else:

- **Tap and hold.** Tapping Caps Lock sends Escape. Holding it turns the keys
  under your hands into actions: `⇪ H J K L` move the cursor, `⇪ N` deletes a
  word, `⇪ E` opens Safari.
- **Planes.** The modifiers you hold with Caps Lock choose one of sixteen
  planes. `⇪ H` moves left, `⇪ ⌘ H` selects left, `⇪ ⌥ H` moves the mouse
  left.
- **Mappings.** Each key on each plane maps to one action, optionally with a
different action in particular apps. Capslock ships the complete Capslock
Classic layout and lets you change any of it.

New to Capslock? Start with [Install and first run](/docs/start/install/),
then keep [Default layout](/docs/layout/) open while you learn.
